Regular vacuuming prolongs carpet life

Your carpets need to be vacuumed regularly. Frequent vacuuming will prolong the life of your carpets by preventing the build up of grit that destroys the carpet fibers. Once a week give your carpets an extra bit of TLC and use the crevice tool to vacuum the edges and around static furniture and radiators. Remember to take your time when vacuuming. Allow the vacuum time for the brushes to do their work.

How can you assure yourself that the carpet cleaner you hire is up to the job?

Unqualified cleaners using unsuitable or outdated equipment are out there doing a poor job and leaving customers with damp, smelly and unhealthy carpets. You need to ensure you don't hire one of those.

No Shoe Policy

It's starting to get wetter and sorry but autumn is just around the corner. Now is a great time to start a no shoes past the door policy. Get it going now and save those carpets from winter damage.

It's also a great time to get new door mats and barrier mats. They both deteriorate in offloading soil-age from feet so get new ones while there cheaper in the late summer. I bet the prices go up as soon as bad weather starts.

Dye transfer from socks

Do you have a light coloured carpet? Do you have darker areas in front of sofas and chairs? Do you or your family sit with only their socks on? Are those socks cotton rich and dark coloured?

If your answer to the above is yes then you are probably suffering, in part at least, from dye transfer from the socks.
